When and why did you start training for fighting? I grew up wrestling and playing baseball. As a teenager I found some UFC DVDs at a Blockbuster. I got hooked and found a small local gym. I trained sporadically while making a lot of bad decisions. When I’d had enough and wanted to change my life, I committed to fighting full-time.

What ranks and titles have you held? Undefeated amateur champion.

Do you have any heroes? Anyone that works hard and accomplishes a goal that seems impossible.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? To accomplish the goal that saved my life. I hope to set an example for people who are trying to change their life, too.

What was your job before you started fighting? I was a drug addict and a criminal. I never held a job before fighting. I worked construction and did personal training throughout most of my career, though.

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? Undefeated Utah champion.
