Shauna Bannon Post-Fight Interview | UFC 304
/
The opening round was a tale of two phases, with Ardelean getting the better of the striking exchanges and Bannon threatening off her back in the grappling sequences. In the second, the short-notice newcomer landed in top position, where she was able to land short shots and neutralize her Irish opponent’s output, before Bannon’s freshness gave her a clear edge in the third, out-working Ardelean throughout.
After the final horn sounded and the scores were tallied, Bannon landed on the happy side of the split decision verdict, registering her first UFC victory.

Mick Parkin Post-Fight Interview | UFC 304
/
The Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) graduate was patient as always, making his reads and getting a sense of the timing coming back his way. But once Parkin got a bead on Brzeski’s speed, he started teeing off, wobbling him with a big right hand and chasing down the finish soon after.
The 28-year-old prospect from Sunderland is now 4-0 in the UFC and 10-0 overall, with the stoppage firmly establishing him as a genuine person of interest going forward in the big boy ranks. This was the kind of effort that tactical and measured up-and-comer needed to elevate his status and garner himself a step up in competition next time out.
Sam Patterson defeats Kiefer Crosbie by submission (arm-triangle choke) at 2:50 of Round 1
For the second consecutive fight, Sam Patterson patiently worked to drag his opponent to the canvas and submitted them quickly once there.

Sam Patterson Post-Fight Interview | UFC 304
/
The Team Crossfire representative showed improving hands in the opening moments of his clash with Kiefer Crosbie, stinging the SBG Ireland representative with a nice uppercut in tight. But once Patterson looked to put Crosbie on the deck, it was academic. After landing in mount, Patterson quickly locked up the arm-triangle choke, drawing out the tap after a quick re-adjustment.
Patterson looks like a new man now that he’s shifted to welterweight, turning in a pair of clean submission wins in his first two starts in the 170-pound weight class. He’s tall, long, and dangerous on the mat, which makes Patterson a dangerous new addition to the division.
Modestas Bukauskas defeats Marcin Prachnio by submission (arm-triangle choke) at 3:12 of Round 3
Light heavyweights Modestas Bukauskas and Marcin Prachnio engaged in a competitive, entertaining back-and-forth on Saturday’s prelims, with the former Cage Warriors champ coming away with the submission victory.

Modestas Bukauskas Post-Fight Interview | UFC 304
/
Bukauskas was the more technical, measured striker throughout, and stung Prachnio in a couple different moments, but his defensive efforts were lacking at times as well, giving the Polish veteran the opportunity to fire back and wobble him a couple times in return. But the real difference came on the canvas, where Bukauskas was able to secure the first two takedowns of his UFC career, pitting Prachnio to the mat.
Midway through the third, Bukauskas clamped onto an arm-triangle choke, and despite being in half-guard on the opposite side, “The Baltic Warrior” was still able to secure the finish. The submission gets Bukauskas back into the win column, elevating him to 3-1 since returning to the promotion at UFC 284 in Perth last year.
Oban Elliott defeats Preston Parsons by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)
Make it two straight in the UFC for “The Welsh Gangster” Oban Elliott, as the DWCS grad looked sharp in out-working Preston Parsons in the final early preliminary card fight of the evening.

Oban Elliott Post-Fight Interview | UFC 304
/
After a close opening stanza that ended with Elliott connecting with a good right hand, the 26-year-old from Wales turned up the pressure on Parsons, demoralizing the American by defending his takedown attempts and getting the better of the striking exchanges. There was nothing too flashy, no crazy shots — just a clean, tactically sound performance from start to finish.
All three judges scored the fight for Elliott, who pushed his overall winning streak to six and his record to 11-2 with the victory.
Muhammad Mokaev defeats Manel Kape by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
Muhammad Mokaev and Manel Kape got into it earlier in the week, wanted to get into it at the ceremonial weigh-ins, and had to be separated before their fight began on Saturday, and then, when it was time to fight, they didn’t do a whole lot of anything, really.

Muhammad Mokaev Post-Fight Interview | UFC 304
/
Neither man threw much in the opening stanza, with Kape landing the best shot of the round in the final seconds, while Mokaev was the more effective of the two in the second, while also losing a takedown and top position after grabbing a handful of Kape’s shorts. In the third, Mokaev was solid early, with Kape landing a flurry of elbows off his back before the two ended up clinched along the fence at the horn.
When the scorecards were added up, it was Mokaev that came out ahead, earning the unanimous decision to remain unbeaten and register his seventh UFC victory.
Jake Hadley defeats Caolan Loughran by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
Despite taking the fight on short notice and up a division, Jake Hadley looked crisp in Manchester, boxing up Caolan Loughran to snap a two-fight slide.
The British southpaw cracked Loughran early in the first, cutting him below the eye almost immediately. From there, Hadley continued to just pick his spots and pick at the Irishman, proving to be the more effective and efficient of the two, even as Loughran worked to build back into the fight.
For the third consecutive bout, the judges were called upon to render a verdict, and all three had it in favor of Hadley, was teared up at getting back into the win column.
Bruna Brasil defeats Molly McCann by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
Bruna Brasil spoiled Molly McCann’s homecoming appearance, hurting the beloved Liverpool native badly in the first before continuing to get the better of things the rest of the way home.

Bruna Brasil Post-Fight Interview | UFC 304
/
In the first, Brasil battered McCann’s lead leg, forcing her to shift to southpaw, and then targeted the body, prompting her to buckle over a couple different times. While McCann endured and kept looking for opportunities, Brasil remained a step ahead throughout the remainder of the fight, continuing to strike well and get the better of things when the two were on the canvas.
All three judges scored the fight in favor of Brasil, who got herself back into the win column after dropping a decision in February, moving to 2-2 inside the Octagon overall. For McCann, it’s a disappointing sophomore showing at strawweight after a debut effort earlier this year.
Nathaniel Wood defeats Daniel Pineda by unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-28)
Nathaniel Wood turned in a smart, tactical performance to wrap up the UFC 304 prelims, picking apart veteran Daniel Pineda in space en route to a unanimous decision win.

Nathaniel Wood Post-Fight Interview | UFC 304
/
The London-based featherweight was slick with his striking from the jump, showing impressive speed and shot selection to bust up Pineda’s right eye and batter his lead leg with calf kicks. Tough as nails, the 47-fight veteran Pineda persevered, getting the better of things in the final round as Wood slowed and got stuck on bottom.
Wood got things moving in the right direction again with the victory, bouncing back from his first loss at featherweight last time out. The 30-year-old is now 4-1 since relocating to the 145-pound ranks, and should find himself in the cage with another established opponent next time out.
