Match By Match Preview | Power Slap 5

There is nothing like watching two giant humans slap each other in the face – and this time it will be for a belt. Da Crazy Hawaiian and Kalani Vakameilalo will compete for the inaugural super heavyweight championship.

At Power Slap 3 and Power Slap 4, slap legend Da Crazy Hawaiian made his Power Slap debut and won two dominant decisions. Those wins made it clear that Da Crazy Hawaiian has a chin that might prove too much for other super heavyweights.

In comes former Pac-12 defensive lineman Kalani Vakameilalo. “Toko” made a first impression that was not to be denied when he knocked out Cody Vallo with his first strike at Power Slap 4.

Not surprisingly, the Power Slap team felt like it was time to put these two slapping titans up against one another with gold on the line.

Co-Main Event: Damien “The Bell” Dibbell vs Nate “The Buffalo Soldier” Burnard

At Power Slap 2, Damien Dibbell made it clear that he was the best heavyweight striker out there, as he dominated “Wolverine” over the course of five rounds to become the heavyweight champ.

We haven’t seen Dibbell since then, but while he was away, a new contender stepped into the picture. Buffalo Bills security guard Nate Burnard delivered two incredible performances en route to earning a shot at “The Bell.” His win over contender Duane Crespo showed that Burnard can take a slap and that his power is for real.

Ron “Wolverine” Bata vs Austin “Turp Daddy Slim” Turpin

Now this one should be circled on your card.

The light heavyweight championship features two men who couldn’t have more different personalities.

“Wolverine,” the former heavyweight champion and current light heavyweight champion, is a quiet guy that lets his hand do the talking. “Turp Daddy Slim” is constantly on one hundred volume. He’s chirping at opponents and making faces and doing everything to get in the head of his foe.

Both men paved their way to the top of the division thanks to victories over AyJay Hintz. “Wolverine” took the belt off Hintz by unanimous decision, and then Turpin knocked Hintz out in the main event of Power Slap 4.

John “The Machine” Davis vs Azael “El Perro” Rodriguez

Familiar foes will stand tall at the Power Slap podium on October 25 as middleweight champion John Davis will face Azael Rodriguez to kick off the all-championship main card.

These two faced off at Power Slap 1 to see which 185-pound athlete would win the inaugural middleweight title and Davis knocked Rodriguez out with one strike.

Davis would go on to beat Wesley Drain to defend his title. He suffered an injury in that match and was forced to take some time off. In the meantime, Rodriguez built his way back to the title. “El Perro” beat Amir Nuridden by TKO and showed that he wasn’t going anywhere.

It will be interesting to see what happens this time around, considering that Rodriguez will get to strike first, and Davis was the one with the first strike back at Power Slap 1.

Power Slap 5 Prelims

Sheena “The Hungarian Hurricane” Bathory vs Christine “The Edge” Wolmarans

The ladies return at Power Slap 5, as featherweights Sheena “The Hungarian Hurricane” Bathory and Christine “The Edge” Wolmarans collide in the prelim headliner.

Bathory was seen in the early days of Power Slap as the sport was building up a roster. She earned a blistering KO win that went viral. Now she gets the chance to earn a victory in her first live Power Slap event against Wolmarans.

Wolmarans is a pro mixed martial artist and she’s coming into Power Slap 5 looking to upset Bathory.

Ryan “The King Of Kings” Phillips vs Darius “The Destroyer” Mata-Varona

Maybe you haven’t seen Ryan Phillips actually slap, but you certainly have heard him. Phillips is one of the biggest trash talkers in the sport and has been a coach for most of the Power Slap events.

He finally gets back into the mix against one of the best in the business in Darius “The Destroyer.” Yes, Mata-Varona has slipped up in his last two matches, but there’s a reason they call him “The Destroyer.” He’ll look to get back to his winning ways against Phillips and get back into heavyweight title contention.

Wesley “All the Smoke” Drain vs “Tenacious” Travis Aragon

Wesley Drain bounced back from his title defeat at Power Slap 2 with a blistering KO win over Amir Nuriddeen at Power Slap 4. That win sets him up for an opportunity to earn a rematch with John Davis. To do so he’ll need to get past Travis Aragon.

Aragon won his Power Slap 1 bout versus Rese Archer and he’s back to get his name into the title mix.

Vern “The Mechanic” Cathey vs Bear Bennett

The Vern Cathey show was in full swing heading into Power Slap 1. The light heavyweight contender looked like “the guy” at 205 pounds before AyJay Hintz upset him to become the champion. Cathey has been looking to get back on track since and he’ll look to make that happen against Bear Bennett.

Bennett is still looking to get his first Power Slap win, and getting it over someone as respected as Cathey would be the right way to prove that he’s going to be a real player in the light heavyweight division.
