Bilal Hasan Bangin’ On Wax With Shamel Ya Smell | UFC FIGHT PASS
Cage Fury Rising Star Bilal Hasan May Have One Of The Most Creative Approaches To Promoting His Upcoming Fight, A Diss Track On His CFFC 132 Opponent Shamel Findley
CFFC has found a gem in 23-year-old Bilal Hasan. Hasan, now 3-0, went viral for a spinning wheel kick knockout in his last bout at CFFC 129.
As an up-and-coming fighter, every fight matters. Post-fight callouts are rare on the regional scene, but Bilal Hasan lit up the mic by calling out Shamel Findley after his CFFC 129 win.
“Miranda (Granger) sent me his details right before I fought my last fight,” Hasan said. “She said he would be a really good potential next fight because this guy fought for the title; he lost. I looked into it more and was like, ‘Hell yeah, I really like this next step in my career.’ It was actually before I walked out to the fight when I decided I’m going to call this guy out.”
The kid is back at it! Bilal Hasan hasn’t taken the scope off of Shamel Findlay, in fact he’s taken the beef to the studio.
On top of a callout that included rhyming Shamel with “you smell”, Hasan followed up his callout by debuting a diss track about Findley on UFC Fight Pass’ Extra Rounds.
“None of it was really planned,” Hasan explained. “I went over to Miranda’s brother, he’s a rapper and has his own podcast that they’re doing, so I went to do a podcast with them. Right after, they were like, ‘Hey, let’s make a song,’ and I said f**k it, I’ll make a song. Then they were like, ‘Let’s make a song about the guy you called out,’ and I said, all right, let’s do it.”
A fighter willing to make an entire song about an upcoming opponent is undoubtedly going to get media attention, and Bilal Hasan is looking to back up his words with a statement finish this Friday at CFFC 132.
A diss track is not typically perceived as a positive thing to the individual the song is about. However, Hasan wants to make it known it’s nothing personal.
“I just thought it was fun,” Hasan explained. “Nothing towards Shamel as a person, it’s more of just his name. His name is just something fun to rhyme with. Then the diss track came along and it made absolute perfect sense, so I was just going to do it.”
Bilal Hasan may have found a rare niche in a sport where fans believe they have seen it all before. If the ball keeps rolling on Hasan’s career, Spotify may have a new top artist.
“I actually had a lot of fun doing the diss track with all the boys, so that just might be my schtick,” Hasan said.
While a Grammy may not be in the cards for Washington’s Bilal Hasan, it’s a safe bet that exciting knockouts, combined with a charismatic personality, make Hasan a potential UFC prospect.
Hasan got his wish and will face off with Shamel Findley at CFFC 132 this Friday.
