When and why did you start training for fighting? I was born into it. My father was a kickboxer from Chile. I've been training in the gym since I could walk.
Training: Monday-Friday: Wake up and run in the AM, MMA practice at 10:30am, MMA practice at 6pm. I sneak in strength and conditioning on top of that two days a week. On Saturdays, we have one practice and Sunday is active rest.
What ranks and titles have you held? Lux Fight League - 155lb Title; Ranked #2 in Mexico for Pro Welterweights, Ranked #15 in Latin America (rankings according to Tapology). Various regional titles in Mexico and Chile.
Do you have any heroes? My father - He is the person that I look up to most. God - Religion is a very important part of my life. My faith has made me into the person I am today.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It's something I have been working for my entire life. It's inevitable I will be there and will be a UFC champ one day.
What was your job before you started fighting? I have been dedicated to become a professional athlete all of my life. I moved to the United States at age 16 to pursue my career of fighting and moved to Chicago to train with Mike Valle at age 17.
Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? 35 wins, 0 losses, 1 tie in amateur kickboxing. National Chilean kickboxing champ at age 14.
